Rooms & Spaces

One priority of the Thomas J. Shanahan Library is to provide Northeastern faculty, staff, and students with a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.

During the Library’s opening hours, the following spaces are available:

• First floor of the library: group work and quiet conversation
• Second floor of the library: quiet study only
• Conference room: for walk-in use when not booked

Library users are expected to use spaces for their intended purposes.

Library Guidelines

Library staff and users have a shared responsibility to maintain an environment conducive to scholarly activity. Responsibilities include:

• Treating other library users and staff with dignity and respect
• Discarding trash and wiping up spills and crumbs after eating
• Overseeing and maintaining control of their personal belongings
• Keeping library furniture and spaces free from debris
• Returning library furniture and equipment to original locations
