About the Thomas J. Shanahan Library

Northeastern University students, faculty, and staff in New York City have access to a wide range of resources to support their academic research and learning. Shanahan Library, in conjunction with the Northeastern University Library system, provides in-person and online research support, instruction, collections, and services.

Thomas J. Shanahan Library

The Thomas J. Shanahan Library is an intellectual center of Northeastern University – New York City and a focal point for academic research, a place for learning and collaboration, and a gateway to the resources of the Northeastern University Library system.

The library supports student success through information literacy instruction, research assistance, and access to scholarly resources. Students can access library materials in person or remotely through the library catalog, electronic databases, and other online resources.

The library also provides spaces for individual study, collaborative work, and academic engagement. Our physical collections include books, periodicals, audiovisual materials, and other resources, while our extensive electronic collections provide access to scholarly journals, ebooks, streaming media, and research databases.

The library is also home to the Thomas J. Shanahan Archives, which preserves the history of Marymount Manhattan College and documents the rich history of theatre, dance, and the performing arts in New York City. The Archives provide access to unique primary sources and support teaching, learning, and scholarly research.
