Access to MMC Archives
Access to the MMC Archives are available for in-library use only. Access requires prior arrangement with library staff. Contact [email protected] for further information.
Media Center
The Media Center is on the second floor of Nugent, lower level of the library. Media Center hours are the same as the library. If you have questions about media services, please contact us at [email protected] or call 212-774-4805.
The Media Center facilitates on-location events, meets College audiovisual needs, administers distribution of Communication and Media Arts equipment and oversees CMA labs.
Theresa Lang Center for Producing
The Media Center dispenses all equipment for Communication and Media Arts. Policies, including those for equipment usage, are at the discretion of the Theresa Lang Center for Producing. Policies and equipment reservation are available at the Media Center’s Patron Portal(opens in a new tab).
Zoom TV/Laptop units
If equipment is needed for an event in any location in the College, it must be reserved at least 24 hours in advance. Same day reservations, while possible, cannot expect to be fulfilled. Please use Ad Astra(opens in a new tab) to request equipment and reserve rooms.
Almost every classroom is outfitted with Zoom-capable technology. PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE these setups from classrooms for any reason. To resolve problems with the setup in your classroom please call the IT Department at (212) 517-0580 (x580 inside MMC). Most classrooms are equipped with TVs, computers, webcams and microphones. The Media Center has Zoom-capable TV units that can be scheduled for delivery if needed. PLEAST CALL the IT Department or Media Center for taking apart a TV or moving tech from one classroom to another.
Video Reserves
Physical videos that are to be put on reserve for classes will be kept in the Media Center under the professor’s name and shelved alphabetically on the Media Center’s reserve shelving. These videos are for library use only. The Media Center has several laptop setups for students and faculty to use in the Media Center. Reserves should be made at the beginning of every semester to ensure availability. The Media Center has a growing collection of video and DVD titles to augment professor-provided titles. A complete list can be found in the library catalog(opens in a new tab). Adjunct and full-time faculty may take out material for longer than the five-day period normally allowed for patrons. The Media Center asks that faculty planning to keep material longer than a week notify the Media Center. Occasionally, more than one class reserves the same video, so it is important to abide by the rules.
Please respect the equipment you take out and please understand that other professors may need the videos and equipment you plan to use. Please report any classroom equipment problems to the Media Center or the IT Department to repair or replace anything. Both offices will try to respond as soon as possible.
