About Research Data Services Staff

Lawrence Evalyn is our Text Mining Specialist. Lawrence can help you scrape, clean, and analyze texts with Python, and use platforms such as Constellate and TDM Studio. Prior to joining Research Data Services in 2024, Lawrence was a Visiting Assistant Professor of English at Northeastern, and Co-Director of the NULab's Digital Integration Teaching Initiative.

Peter Fan is our Collaborative Research Data Specialist. Peter can work with you to enhance research data production, transmission, and access across your team and beyond. Prior to joining Northeastern in 2024, Peter worked in software and data engineering for companies including Dendi Software, Biogen, and the Broad Institute.

Jen Ferguson is the Head of Research Data Services. Jen can help you create  data management and sharing plans for competitive grant proposals, and identify potential options for research data sharing and preservation. Before joining Northeastern in 2011, Jen worked as a lab instructor and did bench research for Boston-area institutions including MIT, Brandeis, and Wellesley.

Justin Guthrie is a fourth-year student at Northeastern University, studying Data Science and Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing Analytics, planning to graduate May 2025. Justin has always been fascinated with geography, maps, and the world, and intends on showing that passion within the NU Library team, as well as in his work as a GIS Co-op. He is currently leading the effort to plan and promote Northeastern's 2024 GIS Day. In addition, he works on spatial analysis within multiple domains, including climate change, transportation, crime, and tourism.

Kate Kryder is our Data Analysis and Visualization Specialist. Kate can help you create compelling data visualizations with tools like R, Python, Tableau, and D3.js for projects and courses. She can also help you with visual design projects such as posters and presentations. Prior to joining Northeastern in 2019, Kate developed visual reports and web-based tools for companies like the MBTA, Enrich Consulting, and Bechtel.

Bahare Sanaie-Movahed is our GIS Specialist. Bahare can help you find geospatial data and access programs such as ArcGIS Online to create online maps. She can also help you design and carry out GIS-related projects and course assignments. Bahare has worked at Northeastern since 2015. Prior to joining Northeastern, Bahare worked in research and consulting for organizations including Zapotec Energy and the Charles River Watershed Association and Boston University.
