Lauri Fennell (she/her)
Health Sciences Librarian
Research & Instruction
Boston
Lauri Fennell is one of two health sciences librarians at Northeastern University, where she supports students, faculty, and staff with a range of research and information needs. Since joining Northeastern in 2022, she has been a member of NU-RHIC, the Northeastern University Rural Health Interdisciplinary Collaborative, bringing a personal, lived interest in rural health rooted in raising her three children on a farm in Western Massachusetts.
Her commitment to libraries and rural health spans over two decades, including grant-funded work focused on health literacy that brought together clinicians and local libraries — work she wrote about in the Journal of Hospital Librarianship (2005, under her previous name, Kolakoski). Her career has taken her across public, hospital, and academic libraries.
She holds an MS in Library Science from Simmons University and a BA in Women's Studies from UMass Amherst.
