In learning environments that range from labs and recitations to studios and seminars, we might come across instances where an individual’s attitudes or stereotypes affect their actions, decisions, or interpretations. These explicit or implicit biases sometimes surface in the learning environments we create and make others and even ourselves feel uncertain, judged, or offended. This workshop intensive will help graduate students and post-docs leverage these uncomfortable occasions and transform them into teachable moments for both students and themselves. Refreshments will be provided. This event is intended to support graduate students in their roles as teaching assistants, course instructors, and future faculty. Post-docs are also welcome.
