Elsevier Major Reference Works


Authorized users of this product are: Faculty members (including temporary or exchange faculty for the duration of their assignment), graduate and undergraduate students, staff members, and independent contractors acting as faculty or staff members who are officially affiliated with Northeaster and who are permitted by northeaster to access licensed products via secure authentication. Also members of the general public who are permitted by Northeastern to have physical access to Northeastern’s library facility may access Elsevier Major Reference Works only from terminals located at Northeastern’s library facility.

Authorized Users may:

  • access, search, browse and view Elsevier Major Reference Works

  • print and download a limited number of articles, abstracts, records or parts of chapters from Elsevier Major Reference Works

  • transmit single journal articles or book chapters from Elsevier Major Reference Works to other Authorized Users and to third-party colleagues for their scholarly or research use

Authorized Users may not be used for the following purposes:

  • Substantial or systematic reproduction

  • Redistribution, reselling or sublicensing in any manner including in connection with fee-for-service use

  • Supply or distribution in any form to anyone other than an Authorized User except as is allowed above.

  • Substantial or systematic retention of Elsevier Major Reference Works

Authorized Users may not:

  • Use “spider” or “web-crawling” or other software programs to continously and automatically search, index or download any content from Elsevier Major Reference Works

  • Modify, adapt, transform, translate or create any derivative work based on Elsevier Major Reference Works or use it in a manner that would infringe the copyright or other proprietary rights.

  • Remove, obscure or modify in any way any copyright notices, other notices or disclaimers as they appear in Elsevier Major Reference Works. All excerpts used shall acknowledge the source, title, author and publisher.

  • Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble any software included in Elsevier Major Reference Works.

  • Export or re-export any software that is part of Elsevier Major Reference Works as restricted by U.S. Law.

All right, title and interest in and to the content in Elsevier Major Reference Works remain with Elsevier and its suppliers and unauthorized redistribution of this content could materially harm Elsevier and its suppliers.
