Chinese New Year

A man wears a dragon costume during a Chinese New Year.

A man wears a dragon costume during a Chinese New Year, or Lunar New Year, celebration in Boston. This photograph comes from the Chinese Progressive Association Collection (M163). The Chinese Progressive Association was founded in 1977 to advocate for equality for Boston’s Chinese population. The focus of the Association was to provide Chinatown residents with a forum for their concerns and a way to communicate with state and local government. The Association continues its work on tenants' rights, workers' rights, political empowerment, and local Chinatown issues.
