Support the Library

“Nobody graduates from a library, but nobody graduates without one” – Anonymous

Students studying in library

Snell is a world-class research library - an interactive hub where nearly every Northeastern student comes to study and learn in collaborative workplaces and smart study rooms, utilizes our state-of-the art equipment or connects with our expert library staff for services and guidance. As technology is constantly evolving – and continues to change how students learn, how faculty teach and how researchers generate ideas, Snell Library strives to meet these changes to foster curiosity, be a portal for information and engagement, and help make discoveries possible.

With your support we can continue to harness innovative new technology, acquire desirable print and digital resources, secure and share archives and special collections for our students and the greater Northeastern community. Please consider designating your philanthropic gift to one of the Library’s funding priorities today. Thank you!

Invest in the Library

Direct Your Gift – – Invest in innovations in learning and teaching, in our facility and in our staff to expand and enhance experiences for all Northeastern students, faculty, staff and friends. View our major funding priorities and needs for the coming year.

Gifts-in-Kind (Books, artwork, etc.)

Snell Library appreciates the interest and goodwill of those who wish to support the development of our collection. However, due to space constraints and the transition to electronic information resources, we do not accept gifts of books nor print materials. The Library does accept particular organizational records and personal papers and may consider rare books, prints and archival materials as well as unique materials that support teaching and research on a case-by-case basis. Gifts-in-kind are accepted on the understanding that the Library becomes the sole owner of the materials. For more information on gift book donations visit here

Memorial & Honorary Gifts

Honor a loved one, a favorite faculty member, helpful library staff members, lifelong friends, etc.

Memorial and honorary gifts are a meaningful way to recognize a loved one, commemorate a special occasion, or honor a friend or faculty member who impacted your Northeastern experience. Please enclose a note with your gift indicating the name of the honoree and the name and address of the person(s) you’d like notified of your gift. For online gifts complete the “honor or memory” section at the bottom of the gift form.

Naming Opportunities

Physical Spaces at Snell – There are a variety of rooms, study spaces and facilities available for naming at the Library. Naming opportunities can be made in memory, or in honor of individuals, occasions, etc. Please contact Gail Mansfield, Director of Development at g.mansfield [at] for an up-to-date list of spaces available and associated gift ranges.

Endowed Funds at Snell  – Endowed funds are permanent funds to be used for specific purposes and activities to sustain the work at the library. Your endowment gift helps provide for the future of the library by ensuring continued resources from your investment. An endowed gift can be made to honor your, or a loved one’s, lifelong relationship with Northeastern and with the Library, and can be fulfilled through a multi-year commitment. Current endowment gifts are needed to support the purchase and preservation of Library collections, a lecture series, and research programs. Endowments begin at $100,000 and generate annual revenue that continue to support your passions in perpetuity.

These endowed funds were established by generous Northeastern alumni and friends.

For additional information on creating or supporting one of the established endowed funds listed, or to learn more about naming a scholarship, or support fund, please contact Gail Mansfield, Director of Development at g.mansfield [at] northeastern.edug.mansfield [at] (subject: Giving%20to%20the%20Library) ( )or call 617-373-5452.
