Digital Publishing and Preservation at Northeastern

The Digital Repository Service (DRS) is a secure environment for the storage, management, and access to digital materials produced and/or used in the course of the University’s teaching, research and service activities.

The Library has been providing an “institutional repository” for several years – IRis [1] – and has focused its efforts on collecting faculty publications and NU archival materials.

The DRS will eventually include materials previously included in IRis and will provide a IRis-like “skin” that provides IRis users with an experience similar to what they have become accustomed to, while at the same time going far beyond IRis in its capacity to handle and preserve digital assets of all sorts.

The DRS currently hosts the Boston Latino Community History [2] collection, and additional collections are to come.
