New Initiatives

Further evolution and redesign of Snell Library

Academic libraries today are undergoing a transition from focusing on the steady accumulation of books and journals to providing a wider variety of resources, services, and vital spaces for collaborative learning. In this letter to the community, Vice Provost for Information Collaboration and Dean of Libraries Dan Cohen outlines Northeastern's vision for a 21st Century Library, discusses the changing environment of information access and library collections, and provides details on the data-driven process underpinning the plan and the timeframe.

Beginning on December 18, 2017, we will begin moving portions of our collections to an off-site storage facility. After the first week of work, move activities will cease for the duration of winter break and resume on Tuesday, January 2 with work continuing through the spring semester. For regular updates about this ongoing project, please check the Collection Move Updates page.
